Helping is Easy

Anyone in the United States can contribute to MIGreenPower Community Impact.

You can contribute online using your credit or debit card or a bank account. You'll receive payment confirmation via email. To get started, use the Contribute button or email us at migreenpower@dteenergy.com for more information. A contribution of $400 subscribes an income-qualified customer to 100% renewable energy and provides them with associated monthly savings for one year. This calculation is based on average monthly usage and costs of an income-qualified customer.

Contributions are allocated toward the development and operation of the three solar parks. The parks enable selected community participants to be enrolled in MIGreenPower: this includes 100% attributed renewable energy and an associated bill credit, which will lower monthly electric bills. The total amount of third-party contributions will directly impact the size of the solar parks and the total number of individuals subscribed to clean energy.

Contributions also fund compensation for the three community representatives on the Low-Income Solar Council. Providing authentic voices from each community, the representatives are crucial to the success of this pilot project, contributing insights for community engagement strategies, funding proposals and other project plans and outcomes. Members will also gain valuable professional experience through their participation on the Council.

Help Communities

The pilot intends to help three underserved communities — Detroit, Highland Park and River Rouge — and income-qualified residents (below 200% percent of the federal poverty guidelines) participate in the benefits of clean, renewable energy.

Help Households

Selected income-quaified residents in each community will be subscribed to 100% renewable energy for their homes and receive an associated credit that lowers their monthly bill. Two of the projects also include energy-saving initiatives for selected participants.

Help Michigan

Contributors and MIGreenPower participants play a more direct role in Michigan's clean energy transformation. We're focused on bringing significantly more clean energy onto the grid and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

About the Solar Council

The Low-Income Solar Council includes one representative from DTE, Vote Solar (a non-profit organization), Guidehouse (a subject matter expert), a staff member from the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) and one income-qualified community representative from each of the three communities.

Our Commitment

The MIGreenPower Community Impact pilot resulted from discussions with community stakeholder groups and aligns with our commitment to help decarbonize our state's economy and address climate change. With a goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050, DTE is focused on bringing significantly more clean energy onto the grid, benefitting all Michiganders. By 2025, DTE will generate enough clean energy from wind and solar to power 1.3 million homes.
