Support Michigan-Made Renewable Energy

MIGreenPower is a simple and affordable program that puts more clean energy on the grid. When we work together, the impact we can make is significant.

Our 50-plus wind and solar parks already generate enough clean energy to power more than 835,000 homes. Your support of MIGreenPower helps us achieve our plan to generate enough energy from Michigan wind and solar to power approximately 5.5 million homes by 2042.

Disclaimer:
For the $1 and $2 plans, your percentage of clean energy will vary as usage fluctuates month to month.

For the Flex Program, the percentage of your clean energy match will remain the same, but your monthly cost will vary as your electricity usage fluctuates.

Calculations regarding the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are based on the Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator provided by the Environmental Protection Agency. All estimates are approximate.

MIGreenPower subscribers pay a subscription fee and receive a market-based credit for their participation. Both the subscription fee and the credit can change over the life of the program due to fluctuations in the cost of producing renewable energy and its market value.

For business customers, participation in the Flex program is Green-e Energy^® certified. If a business is enrolled in the Fixed program, it would need to participate at a minimum of 100 kWh/month to obtain Green e-Energy^® certification.

All Green-e^® certified MIGreenPower enrollments meet the environmental and consumer-protection standards set forth by the nonprofit Center for Resource Solutions. Learn more at Green-e Energy.

MIGreenPower Impact

DTE’s wind and solar parks have helped us cut carbon emissions by 32% since 2005. High and growing demand for MIGreenPower is helping us add even more Michigan-made renewable energy to the grid, with nearly 100,000 residential electric customers enrolled.

The growth in our program strengthens our commitment to increase the amount of renewable energy in our fuel mix to 32% by 2029. That includes adding 1,000 megawatts of new, Michigan-made wind and solar energy each year starting in 2026 to reach a total of 18,400 megawatts by 2042 – enough clean energy to power approximately 5.5 million homes.

Our wind and solar parks also help us fulfill MIGreenPower commitments from some of Michigan's most well-known organizations, including Ford Motor Company, General Motors, the University of Michigan, the State of Michigan and the Detroit Zoo.

Customer Outreach

Throughout the year, we phone customers or visit door-to-door to encourage support for clean energy options. To ensure your security when you enroll in a program, we've created an overview of what you can expect.

What We Do

Have the information needed to answer questions about all programs and to enroll interested customers.

Ask you to provide your driver's license number, tax identification number or the last four digits of your Social Security number to verify your account during enrollment.

If we're visiting door-to-door, our representative will present a photo ID badge with a valid expiration date and wear a DTE Energy branded shirt, jacket, hat or other uniform.

What We Won't Do

We never ask for payment in any form.

We never ask for debit or credit card number(s).

If we're visiting door-to-door, we never ask to enter your home, ask to see your bill or visit outside of the time and date range indicated on postcards we send out before we visit.

Increase Your Impact

Anyone in the United States can make a one-time contribution to MIGreenPower Community Support or MIGreenPower Community Impact, even if you aren't in the DTE service area.

You can enroll online or email migreenpower@dteenergy.com to contribute monthly.

How You're Billed

If you're enrolled in our Flex programs, you will see a charge related to your usage and associated credits.

If you're enrolled in our Fixed programs , you will see a charge based on the amount you selected and associated credits.

How to Make Changes

You may change your participation level once per billing cycle through your online account or by emailing us at migreenpower@dteenergy.com. You may cancel anytime, and there is no contractual obligation with any MIGreenPower program.

How We Compare

DTE is Michigan's largest investor in clean energy development, and MIGreenPower is one of the largest voluntary renewable energy programs in the country.

You're Making a Real Difference

When we work together, the impact we can make is significant. MIGreenPower subscribers have enrolled 5 million megawatt hours of clean energy in the program, which is equivalent to taking more than 830,000 gasoline-powered passenger cars off the road for one year.

Business Customers

MIGreenPower is helping nearly 100,000 of our electric customers along their sustainability journey. And we’re here for you, too! The MIGreenPower program is designed to be:

Flexible: attribute a percentage of your monthly electricity usage to clean energy

Affordable: no infrastructure costs

Accommodating: no contracts or cancellation fees

Large businesses, including Ford Motor Company, General Motors and The University of Michigan have made long-term commitments through our MIGreenPower Large Customer program.

More Enrollment Details

Once enrolled, you can remain in MIGreenPower programs through March 31, 2042.

If you move within DTE's electric service territory, you can maintain your enrollment. However, if you move outside of our territory, you'll automatically be removed from all programs.

MIGreenPower Flex program participants pay a subscription fee and receive a market-valued credit for their participation, both of which are indicated on your monthly DTE bill. Both the subscription fee and credit can change over the life of the program due to fluctuations in the cost of producing renewable energy and its market value. MIGreenPower Community program participants will pay a subscription fee for the amount they have selected.

Please note: We cannot connect all participants' homes and businesses directly to the program's clean energy projects. Wind and solar energy we produce goes directly onto the power grid.

How Program Pricing is Determined

The MIGreenPower Flex program subscription fee includes an average cost of ownership for wind and/or solar facilities as well as a small marketing and administrative charge. The cost of ownership consists of the projects' initial building costs plus all ongoing operational and maintenance expenses associated with the projects over the facility's lifetime.

Credits for both the Flex and Fixed programs are based on the costs to the utility to purchase traditional energy and capacity for all customers. This is with the understanding that MIGP subscribers don't incur these costs for the portion of their energy that's matched through the MIGreenPower program.
